Counterfeit Skincare Products on the Web

Thank you!  All proceeds from the sale of skincare products on this site go back into keeping this site going.  Eventually, I’d love to start a skincare product line that supports worth causes.  There’s just not enough time in the day! 🙂

The issue of counterfeit skincare is getting worse.  Skincare is a multi  billion dollar worldwide business, and it hasn’t taken counterfeiters long to figure that out.

Below is my opinion on how to avoid this problem:

  • Don’t order from Amazon.  The last 3 products I spot checked from Amazon from companies like SkinCeuticals, etc. were all counterfeit.  And I’m from Seattle, and tend to be Amazon friendly.  They just can’t seem to get their arms around this issue.
  • If it’s cheap, it’s probably counterfeit.  Reputable online companies don’t discount except rarely.
  • Keep your skincare product that you are out of …… until you receive the new one!  I can’t emphasize this one enough because you need the old one to compare to the new one.
  • Try to keep all the packaging because you’ll find clues there too.
  • When you get the new one.  Look carefully!  Is the packaging the same?  Are the serial numbers or expiry dates in the right place?  Does any of that look different.  Then look at the tube, etc.  Is that the same?  Check the fragrance and texture of the product.

I find these fairly easy to spot!  Maybe the easiest thing is to just buy from companies you know and trust.

Hope this helps,
